| Mr. Kenneth Schaap
Dean of Married Students |
Pastor Jon Wrightson | Jacksonville, NC
For married couples, attending Bible college can seem like an insurmountable obstacle in the way of serving God full-time. We at Hyles-Anderson College are committed to providing an atmosphere and program that will make the impossibility of balancing work, family, ministry, and school possible. With several programs of study available and with the added benefit of the Jericho Plan, attending Hyles-Anderson as a married student has never been more achievable.
The First Baptist Church ministries provide a multitude of opportunities for the family to be involved in an exciting, thriving local church. Hammond Baptist Schools offer a premier private education in a protected environment so that the children can be properly educated while the parents are preparing for the ministry. With a program for people of every age and background, everyone in the family has an opportunity to grow in the Lord.
Few markets in America have the combination of job opportunities and affordable housing like those found here in Northwest Indiana. Our college is affiliated with dozens of companies and can quickly find a job for nearly every individual.
Mr. and Mrs. Ken Schaap work directly with the married students and their families, striving to make Hyles-Anderson an accommodating place. Different activities, banquets, and services are held throughout the year to help students keep their marriages and families strong.

Hylander Wives’ Fellowship
All wives of Hyles-Anderson students are provided a special program to help meet their needs because they are also a part of the college family. Hylander Wives’ Fellowship is held every second and fourth Tuesday evening of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the college. Mrs. Jack Schaap is in charge of these meetings. Subjects pertinent to leaders’ wives are discussed. The meetings are closed with refreshments and fellowship. This time of fellowship affords a wonderful opportunity to make new friends who will last a lifetime. A nursery is provided for these fellowships. As a Hylander wife, you can learn to be a successful leader’s wife, you will be challenged as a Christian, and you will receive practical helps on how to be a better wife and mother.

The McCoy Family
Being a married student at Hyles-Anderson College definitely had its challenges. I am very thankful for the incredibly helpful staff, such as Dr. David Stubblefield, who helped me to find the proper balance in scheduling my classes. Daryl Whitehouse and his wife, Laurie, were a great encouragement to my wife and me. They always seemed to have the perfect antidote for our rigorous schedule with just the right activities. I often think about what a wonderful preparation that Hyles-Anderson College provided for my family and me. When I arrived, I was married and had three children. The college had everything that we needed to graduate and be successful in the ministry. My entire family was able to get involved in the ministries of the First Baptist Church of Hammond. To this day, the Whitehouse family are counted as our dear friends. They loved and cared for us in a special way. Billy Carter FBMI Ghana Team |
