Dear Graduate,

Many of you from the Class of 2020 responded to my email with suggestions regarding a suitable day for your graduation. The suggestions were very diverse, which is understandable due to the number of graduates and different schedules and future events in your lives.

The administration and Pastor Wilkerson have decided that commencement exercises for Hyles-Anderson College will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2020, at the First Baptist Church of Hammond. The tentative start time will be 6:00 p.m.

The factors involved with this decision are as follows:

  1. The gathering of people will be safer than a May-through-July date.
  2. The entire Hyles-Anderson College student body, along with your family, friends, and First Baptist Church members, will be able to witness your graduation ceremony.
  3. We were conscientious of the many wedding dates taking place from May through August as well.
  4. The date we chose is the Labor Day weekend, and many people will not have to work on Monday, September 7.

I am aware that September 6, 2020, may not be compatible for some. Hopefully, with a 4½-month notice, you will be able to make arrangements to attend your graduation. I pray this will be the case.

In addition to the September 6 graduation ceremony, we are planning an event on Saturday, September 5, that will be both enjoyable and rewarding to you and your family. I will give you more details as we are able to confirm our intentions.

Sincerely,

Dave Douglass
President
Hyles-Anderson College
