The 32nd Annual Harvest Fest was held on Saturday, October 17, on the campus of Hyles-Anderson College. Hundreds of students, church members, and friends participated in games, activities, and an old-fashioned Gospel sing with the Kevin Walker family. Harvest Fest has been an annual tradition since 1983. In essence, it has stayed the same for all these years. The activity includes hayrides, bonfires, the traditional “Monk” videos, delicious food, a flea market, games, and activities. It is a highlight of the fall season at Hyles-Anderson College.
We are very excited about the launch of our brand new hylesanderson.edu website. This update has been in the works for several months. The new design allows us to keep you better informed about what is happening at Hyles-Anderson College. It also provides easier access to our student pages as well as access for prospective students to apply and communicate directly with the Admissions Department. The new Events Calendar feature keeps you up-to-date about upcoming events on our campus. One great feature of the new website is the photo gallery. This gallery pulls photo streams from our Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Flikr accounts. Anything that is posted to social media is reflected in one convenient place on our website. We are excited about future development of the site to include an online store and a fully interactive alumni directory.
Pastor Douglas MacCormack hosted our Alumni and Friends Fellowship at the Crossroads Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama, on October 30, 2015. The fellowship included a delicious meal of breaded pork chops, chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a choice of desserts. We enjoyed a great time of fellowship with our alumni and friends. We were happy to meet some prospective Hyles-Anderson students at the event as well.
We are looking forward to our next Alumni and Friends Fellowship with Pastor Frank Gagliano, at South Haven Baptist Church, 116 Academy Drive, Springfield, Tennessee, on November 19, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. (EST). If you are able to attend this fellowship, please RSVP by contacting Bro. Steve Froelke at 570.847.4734 or by email at froelkes@hylesanderson.edu. You don't want to miss this great time of connecting with alumni and friends.
The Hyles-Anderson College Athletics Department provides a great opportunity for our students to compete in a variety of intramural sports. The athletics program is designed to give each student the balance of strength and beauty that will benefit him for a lifetime. The Hylander Athletics Department helps to instill the character, discipline, and teamwork needed to do a great work for God.
The Hylander Cup Soccer Championship was held on Tuesday, November 10, on Jorgensen Field. It was a beautiful autumn day for the entire student body to cheer on their favorite team! This year’s championship game was between the first place Rapids (Captain Jonathan Martinez - Chicago, Illinois) and the United (Captain Brandon Capelo - Taunton, Massachusetts). The Rapids were contending for their third consecutive Hylander Cup. In the rematch of last year’s championship game in which the Rapids defeated the United by a score of 2-1, the United proved victorious by shutting down the Rapids’ high-powered offense by a score of 2-0. Hylander Basketball gets started right after Christmas Break and is sure to be another great season on the hardwood!
Auditions and selection of the 2016 Summer Tour groups is well underway. Over 100 students auditioned for this year’s tour groups. The Summer Tour Department is planning to have four groups who will travel during the months of May, June, and July to represent Hyles-Anderson College. These groups are also available occasionally on weekends during the school year for conferences, special days, school chapels, and youth rallies. For information about our tour groups or to schedule a group to sing in your church, please contact the Summer Tour office at 219.365.4031 extension 1121 or by email at tour@hylesanderson.edu.

We are very excited about the upcoming basketball and volleyball tournament on December 2-4. This is the ninth annual tournament and will be our biggest one yet. We will be hosting twelve basketball teams and twelve volleyball teams representing eleven different states. Pool play games will begin on Wednesday morning, and the single elimination tournament games will begin on Thursday afternoon. The championship games will be played in the DeCoster Gymnasium on the college campus on Friday night. You can receive regular photos and updates on our Facebook page throughout the tournament.
The highlight activity of the fall semester is the annual Chicago Christmas Lights activity. This year we will be heading to Chicago on Friday, December 11. The buses will leave the campus at 3:00 p.m. to allow enough time for the students to enjoy the evening among the beautiful Christmas lights in downtown Chicago. The Christmas Lights activity includes world-class shopping, ice skating, sightseeing, the Christkindle German Christmas Market, the window displays at Macy’s, and so much more.
Christmas Break begins on Thursday, December 17, at 1:00 p.m. We close out the fall semester with an unusual and enjoyable Christmas chapel service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Wilkerson will be preaching in the service, and he and Mrs. Wilkerson will kick off Christmas Break in their own unique way at the end of the chapel service.
You can view a full calendar of all upcoming events on our Events Calendar.
In each edition of the Hyles-Anderson Connection for the next several months, we will be highlighting a specific area that
Hyles-Anderson College has to offer. We call this segment "The Spotlight." We want you to be informed of some of the areas
that make our college unique.
This month we will focus on the scholarships that are available to the students of Hyles-Anderson College. While we work diligently
to keep our tuition low, we understand that $4,800 per year for tuition is a lot of money. That is why we offer a number of scholarships
to help offset some of that annual cost. You can see in-depth information about the scholarship offerings on our
website.
For questions about scholarships, please contact the Director of Admissions, Bro. Joe Peete, at admissions@hylesanderson.edu or by calling 219.365.4031 ext 1239.
